A self-help group that began with ten women and a single sewing machine now supplies school uniforms to twelve schools.
The Sitapur Women's Livelihood Centre opened in 2024 with a three-month tailoring course and a micro-loan of ₹15,000 per group.
Rekha's group took the first order — 120 uniforms for the Rampur Kalan school. They delivered early. Word spread.
Today the collective has 48 members, two production units and a contract with the district education office. Average monthly income per member: ₹6,800.
“My husband used to decide everything. Now I have my own account, my own income, and my own opinion.”
